Just get a new iPhone 4S and want to know how to get set up so you can get going here? There is no problem. Icloud, you can get set up right on the iPhone, no cable, iTunes desktop that is not required! If you want to go old school, however, iTunes is still for you. We recommend icloud, but we’ll take you through both options, below!
In the device settings icloud
When you activate your new device, you will now be presented with a screen that says touch, iPhone iPad, or iPad (depending on your device set). Just swipe to unlock and you are welcome and invited to choose the language of your choice. The most common language of choice is easily available but you can press the down arrow to see the rest. Press the Next button to select. Apple will also provide you with a standard state or territory based on where you purchase your device, but you can press the Show options expand.
Interestingly, either here or in any other steps the default option to pre-check for you. You can not just keep pressing Next to speed through. You should see the option and press one to review even before the Next button is enabled. Apple forces you to pay more attention than is often required on the web or application.
Next you are given the option to globally enable or disable Location Services. Location Services uses GPS, cell tower triangulation, and Wi-Fi router mapping to determine the approximate location of your device. This feature is used for turn-by-turn navigation (like TomTom), check with the game (like a square), social networks (like Facebook), geo-tagging (like the Camera application) and utilities (such as Siri and Find my iPhone), etc. Unless you have special needs for global disable it, you might want to enable the features of the Service at this location. You can change your mind or selectively disable or enable these services later in the app settings (eg, turn off the Camera geo-tagging application, but leave with turn-by-turn navigation TomTom).
You need to connect to a Wi-Fi to continue setup icloud (if not available, you will move on iTunes setup instead.) Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch can connect to Apple servers to enable (the cable is cut from iTunes, not from Apple).
You have a choice
* Setup a new iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad
* Restore from Backup icloud
* Restore from Backup iTunes
New Set up
To set the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as a new device, sign in with your Apple ID (or press through to create one). If you have multiple Apple IDs, such IDs MobileMe, iTunes ID, an ID associated with FaceTime or more, you must choose which one you want to use. If you change your mind, you can login with another ID later (and you can also login with other applications, such as iTunes and iMessage, with a separate ID later). Agree with the Terms and Conditions Apple and Apple will setup your ID and ask if you want to use icloud or not. If you do – and should most people because it is 1) free for the basic service level, and 2) enough to work – you are required to activate Backup icloud – and again, most people would. (This will create a backup days when you connect to Wi-Fi.)
Decide whether you want to disable Find my iPhone to help track the device is lost or stolen, and then select whether you want to share diagnostic information to Apple to help them improve the experience of IOS.
And you’re done.
Restore from Backup Icloud
You can also choose to return based on previous icloud Backup. You will be prompted to sign in with your Apple ID. Make sure that the Apple ID / icloud same thing you use to make your last backup. Agree with the Terms and Conditions and you are given a list of new reserves to choose from, including all IOS devices to return to icloud.
Select your backup and icloud will begin to return. Then restart your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, all your settings carefully back to where you left them, and iTunes will start re-download all the applications you have installed When a backup. If you live in a country where the Cloud is available iTunes, iTunes will also re-download all your iTunes music, TV shows, and iBooks front of your device. (You have to keep Wi-Fi for large files to re-download.)
For security reasons, IOS will also require you to set a passcode lock, and not wait for you to go find it in Settings on your own.
Software Update
Gone are the days when, after Apple released a software update, you have to take the plunge back into iTunes-equipped Windows or Mac PC, download the 500MB + firmware files, backup your data, install the new version of the OS, and restore your data back to the device you. You can now do all of that, better and faster, right on your iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
When Software Update available, you get the notification popup. Applications are also badged settings, such as Mail. To get your updates, go to Settings, tap General, tap on Software Update, and if no one is waiting for you, just press the Check for Updates. When you update, press Install.
Download the firmware and then the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad will restart and update.
Apple is now doing a bit-differential, or delta file updating. That is only bits that need to be modified to download, not the entire firmware now. Updates also occur in the area, so you do not need to backup and restore your data. Far more efficient and thus faster.
Traditional setup with iTunes
You still have to setup your new iPhone 4s in the same way you make your previous iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad device.
Put on the Mac or Windows PC using a USB cable that came with the white dock your new iPhone 4S. iTunes software found and displayed in the sidebar, and you will be required to register with Apple. If you have any MobileMe, iTunes Store, Apple or any other form of ID, you can log in to it and the information you need to pop up for you to evaluate. The second type or accept it and you’re good to go!
If you are upgrading from the previous generation of the iPhone or iPod touch, iTunes will detect any backup can be created and offered to restore your data for you. For example, if you migrate from an iPhone 3G on iPhone 4S, iTunes can manage your new phone pretty much your old suit. If you do not want to do it, or if you have any backup, iTunes will make the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad as new.
Wi-Fi synchronization
If you want to sync your iTunes library to save your house, but do not want to have a light on Windows or Mac PC via USB, you now have the option to sync via Wi-Fi as well. Wi-Fi sync must be enabled in the Settings app, and you can sync with iTunes from a USB at least once set up, and you need to be plugged into the power, but nothing that dissuades you sa, Zune-like Wi-Fi you will eventually synchronous .
Non-capital USB sync
If you choose to continue syncing with iTunes via USB, or you occasionally sync via USB to move the large files, like movies, you can now continue to use your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad while syncing. (Before you open the device to cancel the sync.)
Software Update
Depending on exactly when your new iPhone 4S will be manufactured and shipped, it is possible that this may have an older version of the software, IOS. Here’s how to check for updates, and get the update, use iTunes.
